LABOR IS DELIVERING AN UPGRADE TO WERRIBEE 
TRAIN STATION FOR LOCAL COMMUTERS

Werribee Station is at the heart of Werribee, and the Carroll Labor Government is starting work to upgrade the station for local commuters – with amenity and accessibility improvement works due to 
begin in 2027.

The Labor Government is also inviting the Werribee community to help shape the future of Werribee Station, with consultation commencing later this year to inform planning for future upgrades to the 
station.

Labor Member for Werribee John Lister welcomed today’s announcement, which followed his community campaign to gather feedback about commuter experience and expectations of an 
upgraded Werribee Station. Survey responses indicated a need for a welcoming environment at the station, as well as upgrades to improve the experience for our vulnerable passengers. 

This is why the Labor Government is getting on with upgrades now, with scoping currently underway for works to improve accessibility, passenger comfort, amenity and information displays at the station.These upgrade works will be conducted whilst consultation and planning for future upgrades is underway. 

Throughout October, Transport Victoria will be engaging with the community to better understand how it can improve the station precinct to provide a safer and more accessible experience for passengers. 
People who catch the train or bus from the station, or walk, drive or cycle through the area are all invited to have their say to ensure the station meets the needs of the growing Werribee community. 
The upgrade to Werribee Station builds on the Labor Government’s investments in the Werribee Line. 

The Government has removed all level crossings in the Werribee CBD, and is delivering more train services, more often for local commuters. The Labor Government is also improving station safety by 
increasing CCTV and extending Protective Service Officer (PSO) patrols from approximately 9.30am until last train. The Government has also delivered an uplift to Werribee’s bus network, improving 
frequency and connectivity for commuters.

The Carroll Labor Government will continue to invest in the infrastructure our community needs, while a Liberal-One Nation-Coalition will cut $40 billion from public services with no plans to deliver for Werribee commuters.
